The Irish civil war started on June 28th, 1922 and ended on May 24th, 1923. They wanted independance from the United Kingdom. Although the Irish won the war it made Irish people bitter and divided the Irish society for decades.
The Blarney castle was built 600 years ago in Ireland. the blarney stone is near the top of the castle. If you kiss the stone it is said that you will be able to persuade many people and will never lose your words. Many people like Sir Walter Scott and many presidents have wanted to kiss the stone and take advantage of its spell. even weirder yet not only do you have to kiss a stone thats about 600 years old, but you have to bend over backwards and hold onto 2 metal poles to hold you up.
Saint patricks day is a day to honor all the things saint patrick did. March 17th is the day of his death. In Christian religion people celebrate on the day of a saints death to celebrate all the contributions they gave. the Irish celebrated their saint with dancing, drinking, and eating the traditional meal of Irish bacon and cabbage.
